Rev Dr Janet Unsworth appointed as an Ecumenical Canon at St Anne's Cathedral

Reverend Dr Janet Unsworth has been appointed as an Ecumenical Canon at St Anne's Cathedral, Belfast.

As a Canon, she becomes part of the Cathedral Chapter, the oversight body which works with the Dean of the Cathedral to support and develop its ministry to the city and beyond.

Janet is currently the Director of the Ministries Team of the Methodist Church in Ireland, based at Edgehill House in Belfast. As Director of Ministries, Janet has responsibility for the leadership and oversight of ordained and lay ministries in the Methodist Church. She is also responsibility for developing the policies and processes of governance for ministry in the Methodist Church in Ireland.

In announcing this appointment, the Dean of Belfast, the Very Reverend Stephen Forde said,  “Janet not only brings a wealth of experience in church and academic partnerships between the Methodist Church and the Church of Ireland, but she also brings a warmth of personality and an enthusiasm to share in the life of St Anne’s Cathedral. I very much look forward to welcoming Janet to the Chapter of Belfast Cathedral.”

Janet's service of Installation will be held at 3.30pm on Sunday 28th April, when the preacher will be Rev. Dr Heather Morris, General Secretary of the Methodist Church in Ireland.
