WORKING WITH wdr partner, dabane trust water workshops, zimbabwe

“The local authority is responsible for coordinating the work of NGOs. There is a crisis of water and the 3 institutions in this area (primary school, secondary school and clinic) were suffering. Communities were travelling far for water. School children too. It was a very long walk, especially in hot days and in school uniforms.

As a local authority we are happy to see the greenery from the community gardens. We are happy as the water is good for our clinic- there is free water. It is good as well that the community don’t need money for diesel as the pipeline uses a solar panel.

I would like there to be more villages covered by Dabane. There are so many villages still to be done. There is a big gap. Before working with Dabane there was only unclean water and so there were many cases of diarrhoea and a lot of pressure on the clinic. There have been less cases since the clean water has been available.

It is important to all our play our part. United we win. It is good to work together, to bring ideas, share them and mix them all together. Together we can come up with something better.”
