President responds following Turkey/Syria earthquake

We have been horrified and saddened to see the devastation in Turkey and bordering Syria following the earthquakes.  Our hearts go out to all who have lost loved ones, to those who are still hoping that their family members are still alive and will be rescued.

Let us pray for all who are affected by this, those who have been bereaved, those who have been injured, for all the rescue workers, for the emergency medical staff, for the Government, for those who are trying to restore utilities as quickly as possible to relieve the suffering of those who are living through this, and for all who have lost their homes and property.  Let us pray for all the aid agencies, including Christian Aid’s partners who are working hard to bring relief and who will have a huge amount of work to do in the days, weeks and months ahead as people begin to rebuild their shattered lives and property.

As we inevitably feel moved to act and do what we can; please pray and, if you can, give.

Irish Methodist World Development & Relief has already sanctioned a £5,000 contribution from reserves.

We are asking that you donate via World Development & Relief’s sister agency Christian Aid Ireland’s Emergency Appeal.

Follow the link below where you will also find a prayer which you can use in your public and private prayers.
