President prays for strength, resilience and wisdom

Remarking on the first anniversary of the Russo-Ukrainian War, the President of the Methodist Church in Ireland, the Rev. David Nixon said:

“We reflect today on the ongoing needless and horrific conflict in Ukraine. We remember the thousands killed on both sides and pray for peace. We remember in prayer the injured and countless thousands more displaced as Ukraine seeks to protect itself from a cynical and pointless land-grab.

With no end currently in sight, we pray for strength and resilience for those living through the horror of war and comfort for the afflicted and the bereaved. We pray for all who have had to flee including those who have come to this island, may they be genuinely welcomed and supported, and we pray for wisdom for all leaders seeking to bring this terrible conflict to a swift and honourable conclusion.”
