President responds to attack on Irish Muslim leader

On the evening of Thursday 17th February in Dublin, there was a racially motivated attack on Shaykh Dr Umar Al-Qadri, Chairperson of the Irish Muslim Peace & Integration Council and Chief Imam of Islamic Centre Ireland.

The President, Rev David Turtle, has spoken with Shaykh Al-Qadri to express the revulsion of the Methodist people at this and all other racist attacks and rhetoric, and also to wish him well as he recovers from his injuries and trauma. Methodists will be participating in the ‘Stand Together’ march in Dublin this Saturday (2nd March) with a clear focus on expressing our unwavering opposition to any and all forms of racism.
