President’s visit to Italy

Lampedusa

From the 8th to 15th September, the President of the Methodist Church in Ireland, the Rev. David Nixon, will be on an official visit to the the Evangelical Methodist Church of Italy.

He will be accompanied by Mr. Tom Wilson, Lay Leader of the Conference, and Mr David Nesbitt, MCI’s World Mission Partnership Coordinator. They will also be accompanied by the Rev. Dr. Barry Sloan who has organised the itinerary. Rev. Dr. Sloan serves part-time as Europe Relationships Coordinator for the Methodist Church in Britain.

The highlights of the visit are:

  • Meeting with the Rev. Luca Anziani, President of the Evangelical Methodist Church of Italy.

  • Preaching in Ponte Sant’Angelo Methodist, an English-speaking church in Rome.

  • A three-day visit to the island of Lampedusa to see the work of Mediterranean Hope, the refugee and migrant program of the Federation of Protestant Churches in Italy.
