World Mission Partnership Update

Hi Elizabeth,

Below is a link to a video by Sandra Lopez, who works for the Methodist Church in Britain’s Global Relationships Team:

Sandra has been visiting churches in South and Central America, and recording short interviews with people in the local churches there.

I thought her latest video might be of particular interest to the MWI: it’s an interview with Adela Samayoa, the President for Methodist Women in El Salvador. Adela talks about the experience of El Salvadorian women during COVID, and particularly their efforts to financially provide for their families. She mentions the support they received from the World Mission Fund which, as you probably already know, is something Irish Methodists contribute to via WMP. Given how much MWI have contributed to WMP funds over the years, I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that Methodist women in Ireland can feel like they’ve played a direct part in supporting the work that Adela mentions. I particularly love her story of using funds to buy sewing machines, run training programs, then donate the machines to local women so they could start their own business from home!

Sandra has also sent several other videos, which will appear in our upcoming newsletter.

I hope that’s interesting for you and your members,

David
