Hearts & Hymns with Pam Rhodes

Pam Rhodes the well-known presenter of ‘Songs of Praise’, presented an inspirational and moving choice of Hearts & Hymns and their histories, in Trinity Methodist Church Lisburn on Saturday 23rd March 2024.

A welcome by the MWI President, Mrs Olive Rowe and an opening prayer with Rev David Turtle, MCI President, set the scene for Pam to open the meeting with that wonderful hymn, ‘How Great Thou Art’.

‘Just Sing Kids’, an amazing junior choir, directed by Anna Leitch with their accompanist Brian Greene, sang a beautiful rendition of ‘This Little Light of Mine’ and ‘All Things Bright and Beautiful’.   Following the hymn ‘In Christ Alone’ and ‘Dear Lord and Father of Mankind’, the Silver Tones, a male voice choir, directed by Hazel Darragh, with their accompanist Ruth Coalter, delivered an outstanding rendering of ‘Abide with Me’ and ‘Standing on the Promises’.

Between the hymns Pam told personal, emotive and very comical stories that highlighted the hymns, and kept us all enthralled throughout the evening.

We say ‘thank you’ to all who offered their time to be in Trinity and we trust that through it all you were able to experience the love of God in your lives.

‘Thank You’ to those who prepared tea, coffee and treats, for those who welcomed at the door, to Lynne and Nathaniel who operated the PowerPoint, to Roberta who accompanied the congregational singing and to Trinity Methodist Church for the use of their premises.

On Sunday morning, Palm Sunday, Pam gave an address in Glengormley Methodist Church on the journey Jesus took leading up to Good Friday and also related some stories of people Pam knew who undertook certain journeys even though they knew what they had to face at the end of their excursion.

Thank you to the Glengormley ladies who took their responsibility seriously and was an outstanding help throughout the weekend.
