I spent yesterday on the Larne circuit. It was varied, interesting and encouraging.
Some of the day was spent with the volunteers who run the Larne Foodbank. I was struck by the care that is taken both in the stewardship of the food which has been donated and in its distribution.
It is absolutely right that the church should respond to the real poverty which many are experiencing. It is absolutely wrong that such poverty should exist in this day and age.
The Council on Social Responsibility brought an excellent paper on Poverty and Deprivation to The Methodist Conference last June. You can find it here www.irishmethodist.org/sites/default/files/Poverty%20and%20Deprivation.pdf
