July 2015

Lovely and encouraging day spent with the Larne Circuit / preached in Carnlough and Craigyhill, then went back to Carnlough to share thoughts on Celtic Spirituality. The Service was part of the town Festival and sponsored by The Lions . it reminded me that where we have people presence and involvement in the community there is effective witness - great leadership from Tommy, Henry and Elaine.

President in Portrush

A most enjoyable weekend with the Portrush and Portstewart congregations, sharing the message of Aliens in a strange land - then a full church at the "sing-a - long seeing friends from former and Bangor circuits. some traditions works well and this is one.

Great to celebrate a wonderful week of children's outreach in Portrush by the surf project- also outreach to the town in partnership with American teams, servants of the king- the concept is brilliant and the project has many other ideas beyond surfing - why not speak to Jono and Beth at

I said in my installation sermon " I wished every methodist would become a missionary. This clip explains further what I did not have space to say that night - thanks to Barry Sloan for pointing it out - https://video-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net

It is not lost on me that on the 12th July in Dublin, Ireland remembered those Irish men and woman who gave the lives to forward the process of peace. In other parts of Ireland may tomorrow's Orange Order parades pass of peacefully. We pray for peace and a truly shared future.

In a moving holy communion service today (1 July) we remembered "presbyters who have entered into rest" Included was
Samuel Wesley Blair
David Stanley Ross.
John Dempsey Knox

Our prayers today (1 July) and in future days is for those ministers and families who are moving to new appointments this week, to the congregations who are to go through change. Can I ask you especially remember the children and teenagers of manse families who are leaving behind friends etc, that they settle into their new environments quickly
