Indonesian Earthquake & Tsunami - A Statement by the President and Lay Leader

The President and Lay Leader of the Conference of the Methodist Church in Ireland, the Rev Billy Davison and Mrs Lynda Neilands, are deeply saddened to hear of the loss of life and devastation caused by the tsunami in Indonesia.

Our hearts go out to all who have been caught up in this disaster. We pray for those who have been bereaved, those who have been injured, those who have lost homes and possessions and all who have been traumatised by what they have seen and experienced.
‘We encourage members of our Methodist family to respond generously to appeals for money, trusting that hope may be restored and communities rebuilt in the wake of this tragedy.’

Prayers -

Almighty God,
Father of all mercies and giver of all comfort,
deal graciously with those who mourn,
that they may cast every care on you,
and know the consolation of your love.
Remember, O Lord, those who are sick or suffer pain,
especially those who have been injured on Sulawesi.
Comfort them by your presence, sustain them by your promises,
and grant all who have been affected your peace.

In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord.
