MCI Welcome Indicative Date for Re-Opening of Church Buildings

The Methodist Church in Ireland welcomes the announcement of an indicative date for the re-opening of church buildings for public worship.

The life and work of the Church has continued in innovative, creative and imaginative ways throughout the time when buildings had to be closed in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.  Being able to gather for public worship is however important for people of faith so we welcome the announcement of an indicative date for the re-opening of Church buildings for public worship.

We are grateful to the Executive Office’ recognition of the significance of faith in the lives of many people and for recent helpful conversations and look forward to continuing partnership as Lockdown continues to ease

The Methodist Church in Ireland has plans in place to support congregations in the re-opening of buildings, so that those who gather can do so safely. Local congregations are engaging in conversations as to how to open safely and in ways that continue to serve the needs of the local community.
