MWI Fellowship Weekend

Friday 19 - Sunday 21 September 2014

The sun was still shining when we arrived at the beautiful setting that is known so well in Newcastle..........Glenada. It was obvious from the smiles the chatter and the hugs that this was going be a special weekend. Roberta and Charlotte began the evening with a time of praise and worship and a very real awareness of the presence of God was in our midst.

The theme for the weekend was SENT. The Rev Dr Heather Morris left us in no doubt that as Christians we are SENT ONES. The need is urgent; the command is ‘Go ye into ALL the world’. Do we hear, do we heed, are we willing to be SENT ONES taking the Good News of the Gospel to the people we come in contact with every day or where ever God should call us to go. We are Ambassadors for CHRIST representatives of His Kingdom.

A most challenging and inspiring weekend that commanded a response as the Spirit moved in our hearts. It was indeed a joy to welcome Rev Margarita Todorova from Bulgaria. Rev Margarita is the Area President of Europe Continental WF and had been in Ireland for the WM Council which was been held in Dublin. It was just wonderful to be able to offer Rev Margarita a room for the weekend and we all enjoyed getting to know her and to hear of her work.

What a joyful sound we all made as Jayne taught us new praise songs with her unique way of making us believe we were all singers..........even though some of us knew we could only sing in the bath!

Thank you to Joan for sharing about her work in Hydebank and for bringing back happy and wonderful memories of the choruses we used to sing many years ago!

Set dancing with Rev Maurice Laverty gave us the exercise we all so much needed whilst words fail me as I try to describe the fun time on Saturday night, but hilarious might come close to the word that had our sides sore from laughing. From a cow named Nan to the pop group Abba (SEE MOVIE BELOW), varity was in abundance. Thank you so much to all for giving us so much fun!!

Sunday morning worship in Newcastle Methodist Church brought us again into fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ. We all accepted the kind invitation to join with the Newcastle ladies for our morning coffee and tea. What a joy to see and hear of the wonderful achievement of such a small group in providing their lovely new kitchen.

Then back to Glenada for yet another lovely lunch before saying our goodbyes.

If you were not there then you missed a very challenging inspiring weekend and I can’t wait until its time to go again... please Carmel may I have room 29a next time?

I couldn’t have had a better start to my time as president of the North East District. MWI is very much alive and being used by GOD. May we go forward as Ambassadors for Christ bringing the GOOD NEWS to those in the places He has called us.
