World Development & Relief Committee

WDRC currently allocates money donated by the Methodist people in Ireland in three ways:

Approximately 40% to local groups and Methodist Conferences (many in Africa)
Approximately 40% in cooperation with Christian Aid.
Approximately 20% in cooperation with MRDF.

Local organisations

These grass root bodies are in an ideal position as they are part of the communities in which they work and understand the culture, local infrastructures and 'ways of doing things'.

Overseas Methodist Conferences and Church Authorities

It is sometimes Methodist Churches in other countries who approach WDRC for funding of specific projects or perhaps local groups within an Overseas Conference apply.

Christian Aid Ireland

WDRC are presently cofunding programmes in Afghanistan in cooperation with Christian Aid Ireland. Emergency funds are also often channelled through Christian Aid.
