Responding to the Burma/Myanmar cyclone crisis

WDRF has already sent £5,000 / €7,500 for relief work in Burma . Churches and individuals are urged to respond to this dire emergency via Christian Aid Ireland with whom WDRF work closely. They have active partners on the ground so delays are less likely. Christian Aid partners in Burma are already distributing aid to some of the most vulnerable communities in the aftermath of Cyclone Nargis.

Send cheques to WDRF at our office (marked for Burma ) or contact Christian Aid Ireland offices directly – Belfast (02890381204) or Dublin (01 611 0801).

As local partners have been operating for several decades in the worst-affected part of Burma, they have been able to respond immediately with resources already available to them.

Burma water distributionPartner organisations are estimating that at least 100,000 people have been killed, and a million made homeless. Up to 1.5 million people have been left without access to clean water and food. In some areas up to 90% of homes were damaged or destroyed.
