The Role of the Council on Social Responsibility (CSR)
Aims
To undertake, on behalf of the Connexion, informed study and analysis of issues which affect societyTo consider a wide range of topics including social, political, economic, constitutional and ethical issues
To consider such issues with theological insight
To provide the Methodist Conference with practical recommendations for action
The Structure of the CSR
The Council has Northern and Southern Executives each of which have a ministerial chairperson and a lay secretary. The two executives meet together regularly to prepare joint reports, but also work separately on some issues.

The activities of the CSR
The Council prepares and publishes reports on key social issues affecting the life of the church and its members. These reports, and any recommendations they contain, are presented to Conference for approval. Copies of recent reports can be downloaded by following the reports link at the top of this page.The Council prepares Press Releases and statements presenting the view of the Methodist Church on important local, national or world issues.
The Council organises conferences and seminars to inform and stimulate the discussion of important issues within the church.
