Christmas cake baked. Turkey ordered. Christmas cards bought. Written a list for Santa! Christmas shopping still to be done!!
When do you start this annual chore? I know folk who begin immediately after Christmas. They buy decorations, cards and other Christmas items for less than half price in the January sales. They make crafts all through the year, getting ready for Christmas. Their Christmas preparations are complete by the beginning of the summer. Other folk just love the hustle and bustle of shopping a few weeks before the big day. Wouldn't you love to simplify the season by finding one gift perfect for everyone on your Christmas list?
In case you are still making a Christmas list, here are some timeless gifts that won't cost you anything. You could mend a quarrel, release a grudge, lessen your demands on others, apologize, forgive someone who has treated you wrongly, find a forgotten friend, point out one thing you appreciate most about someone you live or work with or tell someone you love them.
At Christmas we know the reason for the season. Bethlehem's stable was the first step in God's love journey to Calvary's cross. Jesus came in winter when the world was at its darkest, to the people living in a cruel Roman empire. Welcoming that Christmas baby into such a place and time must have taken faith on Mary and Joseph's part. Jesus was bringing His own joy when the world had none to spare. He came shining His own light. There is always a light shining in the darkness. Look for it, believe in it. The love of God is shining through the darkest night, brighter than any spotlight.
God gives His gift to us in the form of His son Jesus Christ. At this season of celebration and gift giving, let us join the Wise Men who fell down and worshipped Him. Look into the Father's face and tell Him you receive His gift.
I wish you all a Christmas filled with the light of God's love.
Let us remember Christmas is about ....... CHRIST.
