Giving
The World Development and Relief Fund of the Methodist Church in Ireland contributes funds to areas of need in many parts of the world.
Every member of the Methodist Church is encouraged to give 1% of annual income (post tax) to this fund.
Make your 1% gift worth more...
All you have to do is fill in a special tax declaration (if you pay income tax or capital gains tax in the UK). Click HERE to see a printable version of the form in Word (you can reproduce it as many times as you need). It is also on the back of each year's 1% envelopes.
Setting up a standing order - monthly giving
This is extremely easy to set up. A regular known income allows the committee to make pledges to the smaller partners. It enables longer term planning. By contacting the World Mission and Development Office, a simple form can be sent out or you can download a copy - UK download or R of Ireland download
Gift Aid Scheme (for charitable donations in UK)
Church treasurers or World Development secretaries should retain the signed declarations on the back of the 1% envelopes and note the amount given. These records should be sent annually to Mrs Donna Aherns at the Trustees Office, 1, Fountainville Avenue, Belfast BT9 6AN. She will make the % claim on behalf of World Development and Relief. It is important that records of amounts donated, and of any lodgements made, are kept on each circuit.
If you would like any further information, please contact Dr Ian Taylor (Treasurer) at telephone number 0044 2890280790. Alternatively you can contact the office.
Scheme in the Republic of Ireland
There is a similar scheme in the Republic of Ireland. Church treasurers should be aware of this. Please talk with them.
