
Ministry and Structures
The Home Mission team can help in the following ways:
Ministry:
Circuit consultations - to help congregations develop Mission Statements with achievable aims and objectives. Contact the Home Mission Office
Training and development for congregations - in conjunction with Edgehill and other training providers to identify gifts; enhance worship; audit local community mission; assist rural Church development. Contact the Home Mission Office or Edgehill College
Church Priorities – encouraging local Churches, especially single Church circuits to plan for the seeding of new Churches, and facilitating projects for Church life to be rejuvenated.
Fresh Expressions of Church – promoting experiments of fresh expressions of Church through individuals and groups linked to the Connexion in appropriate ways for support and accountability.
Inter-Church relations – with the Presbyterian Church in the Mission Partnership Forum and furthering Covenant relationships with Church of Ireland parishes.
Universities – by assisting in the provision and development of interdenominational chaplaincy services and seek new expressions of Church in University contexts. You'll find the current college and university chaplains contact details here .
Structures
Districts and Circuits – promoting the recommendations of the Connexions Report 2004, including the re-organisation of Districts and Circuits. Resources developed during this time are available in the Resources section.
The Home Mission Department reports to the General Committee through the Church Development Board, and works with District Home Mission Committees. A Home Mission Forum is appointed by Conference as a think-tank and working party to bring forward proposals for future Church development and strategy.
