Prayer

O God our Father, thank you for the privilege of serving you.

Lord, we look back and remember with gratitude the day we heard your voice and how the light dawned upon our dark understanding. We recall with humility how you have led us in the years since and brought us to this day. We are still unworthy, and undeserving but you are the God of grace and mercy and we praise your name.

We bring the Lakelands District before you and pray for every congregation in this large geographical area. May we be open to the promptings of your Holy Spirit, and willing to take risks for the sake of Jesus.

Shake us out of our slumber and light the fire within us so that, as it burned brightly in the past, it may do so again. Excite us Lord Jesus. Enable us to fall in love with you all over again and may our roots go even deeper.

May our ministers, lay pastoral assistants and local preachers know your anointing every time they enter the pulpit and grant that as a result, the riches of Heaven will be shared with all the people of this community.

We ask these prayers in the wonderful name of Jesus,
Amen

Making the ConneXion

The Lakelands District

District Superintendent: Ken Robinson
Secretary: Ken Lindsay

The District covers eight counties and runs from Trillick in Tyrone to Ballina in Mayo; from Pettigo in Fermanagh down to Longford.

Though large, the District has just nine Circuits. Farming is the main occupation though larger towns like Enniskillen, Sligo and Longford provide other employment. The beauty of the area and the pace of life attracts visitors from overseas and many have made their home here.

Give thanks for:

• the completion of new church buildings in Florencecourt and Sligo and a new hall in Irvinestown
• that the "Rivers Meeting" at Carrick-on-Shannon continues to grow and also in being Methodist Society
• the work of Ian Graham, Gareth Hayden and Noel Mills, the three Lay Pastoral assistants on the District
• the rich fellowship we enjoy

Pray for:

• our retired ministers and their families - John Wilson, John Dowse, Chris Walpole, Ken Bradley
• our Probationer ministers - Eleanor Hayden and June Parke
• students from the District at Edgehill - Robin Toner and Ruth Watt
• growth in grace and openness to the Holy Spirit
