RESOURCES
DYCW can provide you and your organisation with many resources, ranging from equipment hire to child protection articles. Please click on the area you require below to view more information.
SERVICES
First and foremost, all the staff and volunteers at DYCW are available by phone, e-mail and post to be consulted on their area of knowledge. You can find our contact details on the ‘who we are’ page. The DYCW office is an open, friendly place where you are most welcome to 'drop in': If you need to see anyone in particular, however, it's a good idea to make an appointment.
If you're interested in arranging training sessions for Sunday School teachers, Youth and Children's Workers, etc, contact David or Janette and we'll see what we can do for you. Distance is not an object - from Cork to Coleraine, we're happy to come to you. Some subjects which you may like to cover include: Child Protection policy ("Taking Care"); fresh ideas for Bible lessons; the pros and cons of employing a youth worker; etc...
Gillian is available to talk to you about Team on Mission, whether that’s applying to be on team or as a church wanting to host the team. She is also available to talk about the 24/7 prayer movement, finding resources and ideas to set up a prayer room.
Lisa is available (amongst other things) to visit and speak at your youth club/group or service - an encouragement to young people and their leaders alike!
Things to hire: We have a number of data projectors, Playstation 2 with games, childrens games and play-parachutes, prayer room resources etc available to hire – contact us for more details.
CHILD PROTECTION
Taking Care
The Methodist Church in Ireland is committed to the well being of the children and young people among them and to that end in 1995 put together the first Child Protection Policy called ‘Keep Them Safe.’ This document was used by the other churches as they sought to develop their policies. In 2004, in conjunction with the Presbyterian Board of Social Witness, an updated and expanded policy was put in place called, ‘Taking Care.’ This is the document on which our child protection policies are based. DYCW offers training in Child Protection for volunteer leaders, provides resources from the full policy document to cards for children and leaders, posters and information about processing of checks through AccessNI. For more information contact David or Janette or, if you would like to know more about AccessNI forms or FAQ’s go to http://www.accessni.gov.uk
